Territorial NHS Boards #
NHS Ayrshire & Arran – working together to achieve the healthiest life possible for everyone in Ayrshire and Arran.
NHS Borders – responsible for providing health care services to protect and improve the health of the people of the Borders and plan services for the local population.
NHS Dumfries and Galloway – serving a population of over 148,000 but within a large geographical area of about 2,400 square miles. Dumfries and Galloway stretches from Langholm in the East to Drummore in the West, and from Kirkconnel and Carsphairn in the North down to Sandyhills on the Solway Coast.
NHS Fife – working to improve health services with the involvement and support of the public and our partners in other NHS Boards, Fife Council and voluntary agencies.
NHS Forth Valley – one of 14 regional health boards and serves a population of around 300,000 in a diverse geographical area which covers the heart of Scotland.
NHS Grampian – NHS services for the half-million people who live in Grampian.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde – NHSGGC serves 1.2 million people and employs 44,000 staff. It is the largest NHS organisation in Scotland and one of the largest in the UK.
NHS Highland – serving a population of approximately 310,000 residents and providing a wide range of services across the largest land area (~40%) of any health authority in Scotland.
NHS Lanarkshire – responsible for improving the health of more than 563,185 people living within the North and South Lanarkshire local authority areas.
NHS Lothian – providing a comprehensive range of primary, community-based and acute hospital services for the populations of Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian and West Lothian.
NHS Orkney – alongside its public sector partner Orkney Islands Council, provides two of the vital pillars that support the thriving economy of Orkney today.
NHS Shetland – responsible for health care for a population of around 23,000. Local Hospital and Community Services are provided from the Gilbert Bain Hospital.
NHS Tayside – responsible for delivering healthcare to around 400,000 people living in Tayside.
NHS Western Isles – otherwise known as Western Isles Health Board – is the organisation responsible for providing healthcare to the population of the Western Isles, which is made up of approximately 26,500 people.

The Scottish Ambulance Service – providing ambulance care to patients who need support to reach their healthcare appointment, or for their admission to and discharge from hospital, due to their medical or clinical needs.
